8th December
Bought our Christmas tree today, from a shop - very boring. Normally we chop one down ourselves (OK Jói does)! Instead of an invigorating trek through the snowy woods to find the perfect specimen and a big mug of hot chocolate by the fire to look forward to on coming home, we battled through wind and rain and crowds of shoppers in a car park with an out-of-control trolley and a bag of chips!
I am now officially on holiday - my last lecture was yesterday and most people have gone home to their own countries, although a lot of the far eastern students are staying to find out what Christmas is all about. Freyja and Thomas have another two weeks in school and a lot of exciting things will be happening between now and then. This week we heard that a picture Freyja had drawn for a design competition open to all Exeter primary schools had been chosen as one of the top ten and was in the newspaper! Now the readers have to vote for their favourite - the closing date is next week, so if you happen to have a copy of Devon´s Express and Echo, cut out the voting slip and choose design number 7!
