Well, the radio silence was a little longer than anticipated, but at last we´re in business again. In brief, we arrived back in Iceland 30th July, packed, cleaned and left for Geneva on 25th August. It wasn´t until yesterday that we finally got our internet connection sorted, and we now have new phone numbers too which I´ll sms shortly. The situation as it stands today is that we´ve moved into our apartment - ground floor with 4 bedrooms and its own garden. Its very modern; tiles and glass, with remote controlled steel blinds on the outside of the windows and underground carparking. Not my style at all! But we have an uninterrupted view of Lake Geneva and the Alps beyond, including the tip of Mont Blanc on clear days, a vineyard down one side of the garden and apple trees the other side of the lane. And on Sundays there´s a fantastic street market just over the border in Divonne (France), just a 10 minute drive from our village. Jói started work on 1st September - turn left at the United Nations and you´ll find his office, just hop in the lift with Kofi Annan, whose offices are a couple of floors above. He´s already been on business to Belgium but no other foreign trips are planned just yet. Barður (we now have custody so he moved with us) was lucky enough to get into a top ranking international school nearby and just came back from a trip to Strasbourg. Freyja and Thomas are in Swiss state schools in two different towns, where lunch breaks are two hours long and they start and finish at different times every day, and to each other. The system truly is designed to keep women at home! In addition, Freyja´s timetable comprises nothing but Maths and French - taught how I was taught 30 years ago, ie. parrot fashion with a test every week - and will remain the same until she´s good enough at the language to be moved into a mainstream class. So you can imagine how I feel about that... Oh yes, and our container of worldly goods still hasn´t arrived from Iceland. That´s 5 weeks and counting!
